Elina Rudzite
In Elinas’ practice majority of pieces tend to begin with many layers of abstract “mess” that involves sanding and scrubbing in between the layers of paint to achieve unique textures, depth and aged look of her work, then, by observing the abstract – shapes and faces begin to emerge, which then are pulled out to the forefront by defining them and adding fine details. Every painting reveals itself in the process, it’s always a surprise and in most cases contains an obscure message from the subconscious, Elina believes. Many viewers have described her work as an embodiment of something strangely familiar and timeless.
About the artist
Elina was born and grew up in Latvia in a family where music and art were pursued daily, music was a bit forced whilst art cured the boredom, so the art stuck. In her early 20’s she moved to London where she later studied Fine Art at London University of Arts. Elina now works from her home studio in South England.
