Dream of Life

Tuukka Peltonen

Tuukka Peltonen creates woodcut prints, focusing especially on the reduction block method. He began working with woodcuts over 25 years ago while studying at the Kankaanpää Art School.

From the beginning, Peltonen has placed the human figure at the center of his work. He uses it as a symbol to explore the relationship between people and their environment. His figures carry internal worlds that collide with the past in the present moment. Through his imagery, he builds a space—a refuge for dreamers and outsiders.

About the artist

Peltonen works in Virrat, Finland, where his studio overlooks fields and tall trees. He was born in the rural municipality of Jyväskylä in Central Finland and continues to draw inspiration from the surrounding landscape.

Since 2002, Peltonen has held solo exhibitions and joined numerous group shows in Finland and abroad. Institutions such as the Helsinki Art Museum (HAM) and Kiasma have acquired his works for their collections. He currently prepares for upcoming exhibitions.
